Response from NIH Regarding Ethics

The Director of the NIH wrote to Rep. Waxman in response to a letter inquiring whether there were any situations at the NIH that involved employees engaging in unapproved outside activities, such as the top diabetes researcher who engaged in activities with a pharmaceutical company that manufactured Rezulin.  The Director of the NIH assured Rep. Waxman that the Institutes were adhering to a code of ethics and investigating suspicious outside activities.
