LOS ANGELES, CA - Today, Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman issued the following statement on the finding by the Bulgarian government that Hezbollah was behind the July 2012 attack of a tour bus, which killed five Israeli tourists and the Bulgarian bus driver:

Today's report by the Bulgarian government is clear:  Hezbollah is responsible for the terrorist attack and loss of life in Burgas in 2012.  This attack on European soil must be met with a vigorous response. The time is now to isolate Hezbollah.

“I commend the Bulgarian government for their courage in releasing this thorough and credible report.  I call on EU members to work together, build consensus and add Hezbollah to the EU terrorist list to help prevent terrorism from further targeting Europe.”

In September 2012, Waxman led over two hundred and fifty members of Congress in sending letters urging the President and Ministers of the European Union (EU) to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
